Building the design world

March 26, 2011

This project by artist Sebastian Straatsma is the perfect book end to the closing of history lectures this next week. Straatsma has dipped the iconic number 14 Thonet chair, first made in 1840, in rubber and some how has stopped time. I start my class by showing Thonets work and saying that this chair is what the industrial revolution looks like…..This week I will show how Corbusier always has a Thonet chair situated in his interiors as a homage to mass production.
