chair help

June 6, 2011

It seems every early summer I get a e-mail from our friend David Gregor to announce incoming chairs from China. David is with our friends Robert Mangurian and Mary Ann Ray at StudioWorks Base. A project based studio for architecture students and designers in Beijing. David finds these amazing chairs, this one on a tour of Asianera Porcelain Factory. He reports,

, WE FOUND A VERY FINE CHAIR IN THE MOLD AREA:  A NYLON STRING HANDLE ATTACHED ON THE BACK +
WOUND STEEL FOR SUPPORT + A BUBBLE WRAP BACK REST.  AS THE KIDS SAY:  S W E E T.

He always writes in CAPS. As I told him in the e-mail back this is a fine chair; structurally inventive,
functionally exacting, materially radical.  Your assignment for the day is look at the world more carefully as David does. You will enjoy it.
