building american

October 3, 2011

I am knee-deep in history lectures this week so I am going to share some of that work. I was intrigued by this image of a Dorothy Draper interior. The International Hotel at the Idlewild airport has just as much romance and aspiration as its contemporary the TWA terminal at Kennedy Airport. I love how handsome this image is, but Draper was disappointed in its “spindliness”.
