Building Narrative

March 21, 2012

From Tami

El Anatsui is a Nigerian artist well-known for his tapestries made from bent and crushed liquor bottle caps. Stunning and intricate ‘fabric’; much more than just re-use and recycle, they weave a narrative of Africa.  See ‘When I Last Wrote to You about Africa’, the artist’s first career retrospective currently at North Carolina Art Museum through July.  This image ‘Rain has no Father’ 2008 Commissioned by the Denver Art Museum.  More images here via Inspiration Green.
