building protest

April 5, 2012

In my SVA class, I am asking students to design a protest.  In order to explain what I meant by “making” a protest, I asked young designer Lee Gibson to come and explain his vibrant and complex exhibition design for the SearchUnderOccupy# exhibit at Parsons, which has just closed. Lee explained his rapid fire process-he had three weeks to conceptualize and build the project, and illustrated a wonderful workman like approach to manifesting an idea.  Now for the students to emulate his rigor.
