color thinking

June 18, 2012

I came upon this image of an Anish Kapoor project he did as a resident at The Fabric Workshop. Made of felt and targeted with a perfect red circle the the color is to mean all things, life, death, birth, etc.  Usually this type of hyper minimalism doesn’t speak to me but this work does. I think the struggle he had with the form and material is evident and therefore it is not a recognizable Kapoor work.
