Currently reading this wonderful book about the founding fathers and their relationship to horticulture and how that is in American’s DNA. It has a lot of the same themes as Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s work, self sufficiency as a political act and the curation of an American way of life. And reiterates that George Washington was the Better Homes and Garden president, just as much as Jefferson.

I am a fan of Andrea Wulf, who also wrote “The Brother Gardeners,” which also ties into her newest book “Chasing Venus.” She makes scholarship look like such a fun sport.
