Twain building

August 31, 2012

After years of driving past Hartford and knowing that I should stop-I finally did it!  A trip to the wonderful and epic Mark Twain House at Nook Farm. This either Stick Style, or Victorian Gothic confection was the love of Twain and his wife’s life for 17 years. Beautifully decorated(yes I said decorated) by Associated Artist, the interiors are dazzling. Metallic Stenciled wallpaper, truly considered furniture and hints of fabric details that are intriguing; corduroy for a round parlor seating, are those curtains by Candice Wheeler? Amazing. Not the most genteel trip, Hartford as a city is dense and tricky traffic wise but go if you are near, you will learn so much.
