building breath

November 1, 2012

After a rough week here in Brooklyn, I found myself clipping images of design that had a sense of brevity and lightness-a reprieve from serious design ideas-but not with out ideas- mind you. First up- this funny giant wooden necklace for hanging clothes, since I have been in Le very small apartment all week-it makes so much sense with smile. See Dutch company orphansocks for more info. Next are these amazing chairs spotted on Designmilk; Softwood by Veronika Wildgruber.  I just love the care and ingenuity it took to figure how to sculpt upholstery-who has that kind of mind? Both objects have a similar honesty and clarity, both take your mind off the everyday.

Even under duress you’ve found the lightness.. I can’t put my finger exactly on examples of your outlook, but these are two of my favorites.
