building girls
A day in the car is always good for me. I find myself listening to hours of NPR and dealing with ideas. One that breezed through my head around Conn. Today was the work of uber teen Tavi Gevinson. Mad has actually been reading her web site since the middle school days and loved her. Gevinson’s new found teenagerness has power but maybe more for me than Mad-you know how popular culture can wane during these years. I was interested in her girl power installation” Strange Magic” that she developed on her book tour last summer. I like the idea of exploring girl space. Part shrine part, makeup table- how does space get made, away from consumption, for a young girl? I am going to ask my daughter.
