Just to archive my reading for last year here are some odds and ends that did not quite make it to C& B but might be something of a good read. After reading the new Charles Dickens biography last winter, I was on something of a domestic architecture tear. May I recommend beyond Lucy Worley’s book; Inside the Victorian Home by Judith Flander. Ms Flanders structures the book around Victorian authors and their lifestyles, illustrating how domesticity changed dramatically during this period. After re-reading George Washingtons biography, His Excellency by Joseph Ellis, I came upon Merritt Ierley’s, Open House which talks about America’s domestic evolution. And to close, two just super pretty books that I acquired are the beautiful Oliver Dupon, The New Artisans and Feeding Desire from the wonderful Cooper Hewitt show. The Image above is OMA’s book machine.
