building written space
We got our issue of A Public Space in the mail yesterday and what caught my eye was the very extreme and evocative work of Michelle Jaffe. An installation piece called the Wappen Field has as about as many layers as an art piece can contain and be beautiful. The visuals are explained in this issue by writerDouglas Crase, who takes us through the project via real history, contemporary art history and just some pure gut reactions. A Public Space has invented a very fine form of writer musing on an artist’s work. A terrific example of what art can do for your imagination.
