So I didn’t go to anything during NYC design week. I will say there are some things I would have liked to have seen, Tom Dixon repeat of the manufacturing plant from Milan last year in the Javits, same with Lindsey Adelman and AND Dirk Vander Kooij. I do wish I had been in London to see Lubna Chowdhary installation of beautiful tables that seem to tell the of the advent of the universe…but that’s a different story. I have found some very good design criticism that came out of the show, Julie Laskey’s report on the NYC design week is insightful and brings up the important questions of how much is too much. SVA grad students attempt to critique the act of the design fair was insightful but maybe too polite, Kieran Long’s Dezeen interview on how design students are educated rang true for me. So what does it mean when you don’t have to go to the trade fair? Good/ Bad? Would love to hear your opinion.
