I think the most interesting room on last weekends tour of the UN was the complete and delightful renovation of the Finn Juhl Trustee Council Chamber. Because the initial purpose of the room, granting independence to colonial countries, has past its purpose, the pre-renovation room acted as a swing space and had lost its glamour. With the renovation Julh’s humor and clarity is evident. Most delightful are the light fixtures that were said to have been found from the mechanical room and refurbished. Juhl also engaged with the ceiling plane in a musical way, bend wood joists holding metal boxes to mask light boxes and other mechanical issues. He was good.
