Today I work on a review for Raymund Ryan’s White Cube, Green Maze: New Art Landscapes. Now a book, once an exhibition; my take on the publication is that sharing the experience of this idea of emerging trends in the great patron museum is still is the wrong form. Ryan maintains that galleries are moving away from “white cube” viewing-or the art object in pristine white box and moving to environments that embrace the community of creativity. Some examples he gives work, some don’t. If he wants to share these places why not a film? But if nothing else, he has given me quite a bucket list for destination art visits.
