Antique Chair revisited Gu Yeli

I have been rooting around the somewhat controversial curatorial website  L’Arco Baleno, the brain child of Ambra Medda. Wonderful production value and navigation, in-depth thoughts on design and experience and prices AKA value of the pieces, make for an engaging experience.  I think its healthy in this if  I “pin it” I design it  culture that people know the value of  design.  For inspiration I am looking at the charming work of young Chinese designer Gu Yeli.  This chair entitled Antique Chair Revisited, plays with Ai Wei Wei’s conceit of using the classical typology of the Chinese Antique Chair, but more humor and relevance.
