Building light

September 13, 2013

irma boon chanel

This is the end of my first week of some heavy-duty teaching so C&B has been horribly neglected but we are gearing up again, so stay tuned. This week I lectured on the amazing work of dutch book designer Irma Boom. The students really responded to this short film on how she developed a piece for Chanel. The book is light, like a perfume, simple like Chanel’s ethos, completely imprinted rather than printed. This is deep conceptual work for one of the world’s most famous brands.
