building social practice

Peter Schumann 1

Happy New Year! After a short break I am back and refreshed. One of the adventures I took on was a trip out to the Queens Museum which is currently exhibiting a awe inspiring show of the work of the great Peter Schumann. Schumann is a founder of the  beloved Bread and Puppet Theater that now resides in Vermont. This exhibit is two rooms packed with the cardboard protest aesthetic of that Bread and Puppet has honed, with a wonderful order, tailoring and craft the Schumann’s work deserves. I was thrilled to “get” the Queen’s Museum’s agenda of mining the idea of social practice and I am excited to use the museum for classroom work and my own practice. Note: Schumann will stage monthly solo Fiddle Sermon performances until the March closing date.
