2014-01-23 DANIEL ARSHAM

From Tami

Artist Daniel Arsham has a wide range of work. His web site lists his work categories as Two Dimensions, Three Dimensions, Four Dimensions and Snarkitecture – which is where I found this gemCurtain”.  Snarkitecture is his collaboration with Alex Mustonen.   [They did an installation for Design Miami 2012 called “Drift” which got a lot of press.]  Curtain was a concept for a government building in Miami (2010).  Made entirely from reinforced fiberglass, Curtain  would appear to be simultaneously flowing and rigid giving pause to viewers – a fluid structure set in the orthogonal structure.  Arsham has designed sets for the likes of Merce Cunningham (see Four Dimensions) – so drama is integral to his work.  I look forward to whatever drama he installs at the OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles this April.
